UPS rally in McKinney calling for air-conditioned trucks
MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD)- A union of UPS crews is rallying in McKinney…calling for air conditioned trucks after a scary encounter with one of their co-workers.
They say a driver on the 121 had heat exhaustion during a trip from Longview to McKinney on Friday. The union says the driver called and said he was experiencing heat-related symptoms, but was told to keep driving.
UPS says it cares deeply about the safety and well-being of workers, and they are working with authorities to investigate. But team members say they're picketing because UPS hasn't honored their contract, which included adding air-conditioned trucks.
They say three people have had heat-related illnesses in McKinney this summer.
