UPS driver lost, crashes in McKinney, local union says

A UPS driver passed out and crashed their vehicle over the weekend, and the heat may have been a factor, according to a local union.

The driver, who was on their way from McKinney, began experiencing heat-related symptoms on Friday. Teamsters Local 767 posted on social media.

The driver was briefly hospitalized but has since been released. According to the local UPS union, when the driver called for help, the McKinney facility instructed them to return to the site themselves, instead of arranging for immediate help.

According to KRLD media partner NBC 5this incident echoes a similar case from last summer involving a UPS driver from the same facility who died of heat stress. In that case, the family and the union claimed that no medical help was provided.

The McKinney UPS location said it is cooperating with authorities in the investigation of the current crash.
