The district finalizes the proposed operating budget

Collin County officials, like their counterparts in area cities and school districts, have compiled their annual budget.

While the budget process can be seen as a year-round affair, the work sessions and departmental input become especially tiring in late June, July and August.

It is during that time that county commissioners court agendas include various aspects related to the construction of the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) budget.

The Collin County budget, which consists of several funds and countless variables, is expected to be approved on August 19, 2024 after required public hearings.

The proposed FY25 budget for all funds, excluding bond funds, is set at $531.7 million. This total includes various categories, including $348.2 million for Operating Funds, which consist of General Funds, Road and Bridge and Permanent Improvement; $100.8 million for debt service funds; and $82.7 million for other funds, such as Health Care, Insurance and the Collin County Toll Road Authority.
