The Coca-Cola Scholar Foundation awards scholarships to students at Collin College, PWSH
Yassin Mudawi received a scholarship from the Coca-Cola Foundation Scholar & Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society for junior college students.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, which awards $3.4 million in scholarships to over 1,400 college students each year, has offered two scholarships this year to area students: the 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders Scholars Promise for a Collin College student and Coca-Cola researchers. Scholarship for a Plano West High School student.
Yassin Mudawi, student at Collin CollegePlano campus, is the recipient of the 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar $1,000 scholarship.
“This scholarship is a unique opportunity for dedicated students and I just couldn't let it pass me by,” he said. “This proves that we must always aim high and shoot with great opportunities. I'm glad I did because I got this amazing reward.”
The scholarship is awarded to 210 members of Phi Theta Kappa, a national honor society for junior college students. According to a press release, nearly 1,500 applications have been received.
“We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa to enable the most deserving students to achieve their educational goals and support the global community leaders of tomorrow,” said Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation President Jane Hale Hopkins.
Mudawi, who is regularly in the dean of the college and the president's lists for honors and received Member of the Year Award for the Collin College Student Government Association, plans to transfer to a four-year institution to double major in cognitive science and computer science, continue research and earn a Ph.D.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation also awarded Plano teenager Alanna Polyak a $20,000 scholarship earlier this year. The scholarship is awarded to 150 high school students each year.
