Take a picture of your food and provide a meal to a North Texas family

A gift, a meal is working with Food Bank of North Texas to turn photos into food for families in need. Founded by Andrew Glantz, the nonprofit is partnering with over 900 restaurants in 38 states, including North Texas.

Every time a guest snaps a photo of their order at a partner restaurant using the GiftAMeal app, a meal is donated to a Plano family. During September, GiftAMeal users can join a photo sharing challenge by snapping photos of their food or drink at participating restaurants. Each photo will trigger a meal donation to a local food bank.

At the end of the month, the best photos will be featured in a voting poll on GiftAMeal's social media, and the top photo will win 1,000 meals donated to the local food bank where it was taken.

Participating Collin County restaurants include The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, Gong Cha, Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya and Mici Italian, among others. Download it APPLICATION to see all participating restaurants.

“We are excited to launch the Hunger Action Month photo sharing challenge,” Glantz said in an official statement. “This initiative not only engages our community in a fun and meaningful way, but also significantly increases our impact on local food banks. We are excited to see the creativity of our users and work together in the fight against hunger.”

In addition, restaurants that partner with GiftAMeal during September will enjoy a special benefit. By using promo code HUNGER during registration, GiftAMeal will donate an additional 50 meals to the restaurant's local food bank (up to 1,000 meals per brand if multiple locations participate). Hunger Action Month, organized by Feeding America, is a national campaign aimed at rallying the public to fight hunger. Each September, individuals, charities, businesses and government agencies come together to raise awareness and inspire efforts to end hunger across the United States.
