Six Collin County cities chosen as the best suburbs to live in Texas


The ranking included about 230 cities and over 18,000 countries.

In a report published by Nichethirty Texas suburbs have emerged as top residential destinations, six of which are in Collin County. These rankings are based on Niche's 2024 Best Places to Live REPORTwhich rates locations based on various parameters such as cost of living, education standards, housing affordability and quality of schools. This year's ranking included nearly 230 cities and over 18,000 countries.

We know people consider much more than just affordability when deciding where to call home, from neighborhood diversity and weather conditions to career opportunities and the quality of schools. There is no one-size-fits-all formula. Our listing has always aspired to give families, homebuyers, professionals and retirees the data and knowledge they need to discover their next place to live with confidence and trust.”

Parker, Texas comes in at 28th and how #4 in the best places to raise a family in Collin County category. With a population of 5,573 and a median household income of $202,727, Parker boasts an outstanding home ownership rate of 98%.

Richardson, Texas follows closely at 27th and ranks #12 in the best cities to live in America category. Home to 118,063 residents, Richardson features a diverse community with a median household income of $94,362. Residents mostly own their own homes and the area boasts numerous restaurants, cafes and parks. With a median home value of $379,800, Richardson offers a diverse and family-friendly community.

Murphy, Texas secures the 26th position. With a population of 20,880, it is known for its family-friendly environment. With top-rated public schools and a rural atmosphere, Niche ranked it #3 in their country The best places to raise a family in Collin County list. The median home value is $458,400, with most residents owning homes. Security is a priority, reflected in its B+ crime classification according to the report. Residents enjoy a median household income of $152,847 and diverse job opportunities.

Allen, Texas ranks 21st in Texas overall and 8th best suburbs to live in on the Dallas-Fort Worth area list. With a population of 105,444, Allen offers residents a dense suburban environment where most own their homes. The community is known for its abundance of cafes and parks, attracting many families and young professionals. The median home value in Allen is $390,200 and the area boasts a strong job market with a median household income of $121,259.

Plano, Texas, is ranked 11th and 5th best cities to live in America. With a population of 284,948 and a median household income of $105,679, Plano stands out for its diverse offerings and exemplary educational facilities, including Plano East Senior High School, ranked #2 in The best public high schools in Collin County.

Frisco, Texas secures an impressive 7th place and ranks 3rd in the best suburbs to live in Dallas-Fort Worth area list. Home to 202,075 residents and a median household income of $144,567, Frisco offers a dynamic lifestyle complemented by top-ranked schools such as Liberty High School, ranked #1 in best public high schools in Collin County category.
