Sex trafficking operation disrupted in upscale Dallas suburb – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
New details were released on Tuesday about a Monday morning raid on a quiet, upscale Plano neighborhoodFederal officials told NBC 5 they busted a sex trafficking ring at a rental home on Sowerby Drive.
One person arrested at the home was identified as 40-year-old William Garland, who appeared in court in Plano on Tuesday, still wearing the red plaid pajama pants and slippers he had been wearing when officers entered his home.
Garland faces two federal charges, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force and coercion and enticement by aiding and abetting. Garland remains in custody and is expected to return to district court next week to enter a plea.
Garland's attorney, Michael Price, was hired just before Garland's initial appearance and declined to comment.
The FBI and Plano police also arrested a female accomplice who is also accused of coercion in the case. She pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.
Police told NBC 5 this is just the beginning and more arrests are expected.
The day after the raid, the rental house is empty and boarded up. In the back, motorcycles and equipment often used for kickboxing training can be seen.
Neighbors told NBC 5 they’ve noticed strange activity at the home for more than two years, since the tenants moved in, including several women coming and going and large bags being brought in and out of the home. Neighbors described seeing a fleet of luxury vehicles at the home, several of which were impounded Monday.
Specific details surrounding the sex trafficking allegations remain confidential, but we expect investigators to release more information soon.
