Plano-based Ribbon Communications announced that Miguel “Mick” Lopez, EVP and chief financial officer, intends to retire after 40 years in the technology industry.

“Since joining Ribbon in 2020, Mick has been instrumental in maturing the company's operations and delivering on numerous strategic initiatives,” CEO Bruce McCleland said in a statement. “Mick's leadership and guidance were instrumental during the integration of Ribbon and ECI, and more recently in the successful refinancing of our capital structure. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Ribbon is a global provider of real-time communications technology and IP optical networking solutions for many of the world's largest service providers, enterprises and critical infrastructure operators to modernize and protect their networks. Ribbon said it has hired an executive search firm to identify and evaluate potential successors from within and outside the company.

Lopez is expected to continue serving as Ribbon's CFO until a successor is appointed.

“It has been a privilege to work with Ribbon's global team over the past four years, and I am particularly proud of our collective achievements in a complex macro environment,” said Lopez. “Together, we have created a strong foundation, unifying our organization and securing a long-term capital structure. I am convinced that Ribbon is well positioned for future growth and success.”

Ribbon Communications provides communications software, IP and optical networking solutions to service providers, enterprises and critical infrastructure sectors globally.
