McKinney woman awaits sentencing for accessory to murder

On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that the former McKinney woman would receive two life sentences for helping her fiance plan the murder of a Rockwall mother.

From the beginning, Holly Elkins was in on the planning and helping to commit the murder of Alyssa Burkett. It was a stunning assassination attempt in the parking lot of a Carrollton apartment rental office in broad daylight on October 2, 2020.

Burkett was shot and stabbed to death by Andrew Beard, the father of their daughter and Elkins' fiance. Burkett and Beard had been in a bitter feud over the girl.

Elkins helped Beard dress up as a black man, helped him get equipment for the scheme, and then lied to the police after the murder by giving Beard a false alibi.

Beard pleaded guilty to 43 years in prison.
