Luxury homes planned for Texas' iconic Southfork Ranch
The farm itself is a real workplace, built in 1970 as a family farm and in recent years operating as a conference centre. On Thursday, the owner of Southfork Ranch presented Parker officials with plans for a major housing project on the property that will forever change the face of this unique Texas landmark.
Centurion American Development Group, a North Texas real estate developer, submitted plans to the Parker Planning and Zoning Commission to build 89 two-acre lots on the Southfork Ranch land, according to THE REPORTS. Centurion's plan is to build luxury single-family homes on the site, while the existing residence remains as a conference and events center. Centurion also wants to put a new rodeo arena on the property.
The Parker Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the plans, which will now go before the Parker City Council. Centurion will collect a list of potential builders, according to the Dallas Morning Newsand there is no official timeline for construction yet.
“We have spent the last two years working to improve the Southfork Ranch site,” said American Centurion Vice President of Rights Sean Terry in a press release. “We have long-term improvement plans to ensure visitors can enjoy the history of Southfork Ranch for generations to come.”
Southfork Ranch has had a number of owners since its exterior was seen regularly in almost every season dallasan enduring primetime series for the CBS network between 1978 and '91 and chronicling the lives of the fictional Ewing family. According to the Morning News, everyone from entrepreneurs to non-denominational pastors have either lived on or used the property to further their cause.
At one point, guests were able to stay overnight at the mansion to please the Ewings. In years past, Southfork was home to music festivals, both real and promised.
