Indian wrap restaurant Kati Roll unveils Plano location
A new barbecue spot has opened in downtown Dallas' West End, stepping into a space with heavy BBQ history. Summoned Moaks Family Texas BBQis now open at 302 N. Market St. #101, otherwise known as the Space that used to be Sonny Bryan's Barbecue.
The restaurant will have a soft opening on August 21, according to a statement.
Moaks is from a team of professionals with decades in the industry, including Jay Khan (RJ's Mexican Cuisine, The Liam's Steakhouse, Chet's Dallas, and 3 Eleven Kitchen & Cocktails) and VP. of Operations David Cole.
At Moaks Family Texas BBQ, customers can EXPECT slow cooked meats, sides, homemade chips and fried pickles.
Meats include brisket, turkey, sausage, jalapeno sausage, half-smoked chicken and a Texas-sized “dino” rib for $45.
You can get the meats by the pound ($24) or half-pound ($14), or in sandwiches for $12, including sliced or chopped beef. The Texan sandwich has a little bit of everything: shredded beef, sliced sausage, beef ribs, scallions and queso, for $20.
Smoking devices are always a thing, and Khan says they're working with two smokers right now, though there's more information about the smoker's situation. Intriguing.
There's also chicken-fried steak, chicken-fried chicken and a ribeye; plus baked potatoes available as a packed meal, and sides like mac & cheese, coleslaw, fried okra, creamed corn and cornbread.
The five desserts include banana pudding, cobbler bites and churros.
The executive chef is Juan Sanchez, who oversees the menus at The Liam's Steakhouse and Mas Street Tacos, and who collaborated with Cole to create the BBQ menu for Moaks. General Manager Hilario Casas has been part of the RJ Mexican Cuisine and The Liam's Steakhouse team for 21 years.
