Roots, Philosophy, and the Family Behind the Wine

Eden Hill Vineyards & Winery began when Clark and Linda Hornbaker found a parcel of land in Celina that seemed perfect for growing grapes. Linda declared, “We are meant to live here. We have found our Eden!”—and the name stuck. What began as a vision soon grew into one of the most respected wineries in North Texas.

Built around the philosophy of “Texas Grown, Texas Made,” Eden Hill is committed to making wine solely from Texas-grown grapes, capturing the state’s limestone-rich terroir and sun-drenched character in every bottle.

The operation is fully family-run:

Clark and Linda Hornbaker studied viticulture and oversee the vineyard.

Chris Hornbaker, their son and winemaker, blends new-world fruit-forward styles with old-world structure.

Wendy and Chanaka Dooldeniya assist with vineyard work, hospitality, and creative direction. Wendy’s photography appears on their labels, and Chanaka is known for his wood-fired pizza and community charm.

Sustainable Viticulture and Production

Eden Hill harvests around 60 tons of grapes each year, sourced from their estate and trusted family growers in the Texas High Plains. Grape varietals range from Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon to more adventurous picks like Negroamaro and Orange Muscat.

Every stage of winemaking—from crushing to fermentation to bottling—occurs at their 10,000-gallon facility in Celina. The process is thoughtful, small-scale, and environmentally conscious:

• Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks
• Aging is done exclusively in French oak barrels
• Rainwater harvesting helps clean equipment, reducing water waste

Their “small-lot” philosophy means most wines are limited to fewer than 300 cases. Club members often participate in the hand-bottling process, reinforcing the tight-knit, craft-driven nature of the business.
