Known for its luxurious high school stadiums and state-of-the-art indoor facilities, Collin County is one of the premier venues in the country for high school football.
Here is an overview of some of the county's football palaces:
Allen ISD's Eagle Stadium
Year of opening: 2012
Capacity: 18,000
Cost: 59.6 million dollars
Visible: Forbes wrote around the time of its opening that Eagle Stadium was a “wretched excess of the state's obsession with high school football.” Stadium closed for over a year in February 2014 due to cracking in the concourse concrete.
McKinney ISD Stadium
Year of opening: 2018
Capacity: 12,000
Cost: 69.9 million dollars
Visible: Features a 50-by-30-foot high-definition video board. The construction of the stadium divided the residentsbut 62% of voters approved the proposal included in the $220 million bond package.
Prosper ISD's Health Children's Stadium
Year of opening: 2019
Capacity: 12,000
Cost: 53 million dollars
Visible: It boasts 1,000 reserved seats and 5,000 bench seats on each side of the stadium, along with a 57-by-63-foot Daktronics scoreboard that includes a 57-by-33-foot HD LED video screen. It secured a 10-year naming rights deal with Children's Health, which enabled it to have a portable X-ray machine in the stadium and a covered medical tent on the field, among other health benefits.
Melissa ISD Coach Kenny Deel Stadium
Year of opening: 2023
Capacity: 10,000
Cost: 35 million dollars
Visible: Part of a $400 million bond package Melissa voters approved in 2021. Includes deluxe box and a giant scoreboard. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes filmed a commercial at Melissa's indoor facility it is located next to the stadium.
