Celina Enhances Public Safety with Cutting-Edge Flock Safety Cameras

The Celina Police Department (CPD) is taking a proactive step toward improving community safety by implementing Flock Safety Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras throughout the city. These state-of-the-art cameras will assist law enforcement in identifying vehicles associated with criminal activity, stolen vehicles, and those linked to AMBER or Silver Alerts. By utilizing this advanced technology, Celina is reinforcing its commitment to keeping residents and businesses safe while ensuring efficient crime prevention and response.

Key Benefits of Flock Safety Cameras

Strengthening Public Safety

The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance public safety by providing law enforcement with real-time information. These cameras are strategically placed at key intersections and thoroughfares to monitor vehicle traffic and quickly identify potential threats.

Advanced ALPR Technology

Flock Safety cameras use Automatic License Plate Recognition to detect and report vehicles of interest to law enforcement instantly. This allows officers to respond faster and with greater accuracy, improving their ability to protect the community.

Proven Crime Reduction

Flock Safety reports that their ALPR cameras have helped reduce crime by up to 70% in communities where they have been deployed. By implementing this technology, Celina aims to deter criminal activity and create a safer environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Prioritizing Privacy & Data Security

The CPD is committed to protecting residents’ privacy while using this technology. The Flock Safety system:

  • Does not use facial recognition.
  • Does not enforce minor traffic violations or parking infractions.
  • Stores data securely for 30 days before it is automatically deleted.
  • Is exclusively used by law enforcement and never shared with third parties.

City Investment in Safety

Recognizing the value of this technology, the Celina City Council approved funding for a two-year contract totaling approximately $41,100, with an annual renewal cost of $18,000. This investment reflects Celina’s dedication to leveraging innovative solutions to protect its growing community.

As the community continues to grow, these technological advancements will play a vital role in crime prevention and law enforcement efforts. The CPD remains dedicated to maintaining transparency and ensuring this initiative benefits all residents.

With these smart safety solutions in place, Celina is setting a new standard for proactive public safety—making it an even better place to live, work, and visit.
