Celina council gives green light to zoning for Prosper ISD's eighth middle school
Prosper ISD's eighth high school is on track to open in 2026 as Celina officials rezone a corner of city land to allow for public school facilities.

Under state law, PISD officials could have built the school on the land regardless of the city's decision to rezone it, Dusty McAfee, Celina's director of development services, said during a Celina Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. on July 18.
The members of the commission had unanimously recommended the approval of the rezoning to the council during the meeting in July.
What are they saying?
No residents chose to speak on the item during the Aug. 13 council meeting, but city staff provided an update on some of the traffic concerns shared by residents who attended the July zoning commission meeting.
“Ultimately, our engineering department will require some kind of traffic study when the plans are implemented,” said Celina Director of Planning Madhuri Mohan.
Two connection points are also required along the roads near the school entrance, Mohan said. More details are expected to be revealed once construction on the school begins.
