Celina calls on residents to limit the use of water outdoors as temperatures rise
The officials moved Celina in Phase 2 of the city's Drought Contingency Plan, a water conservation measure that includes restrictions on recreational water use, on Aug. 23.
According to August 20 City News Statement. Moving on to Phase 2, city officials we hope to reduce water use by 10% compared to normal conditions, according to the announcement.

Here are the restrictions involved in Phase 2:
- Outdoor watering is limited to one day a week for automatic irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers, including landscaped areas
- No outdoor watering with automatic watering systems and hose-end sprinklers between 10:00 and 18:00, although landscaped areas and building foundations may be irrigated for up to two hours each day if done with a hand sock , drip irrigation or dip tube. GRADING SYSTEM
- Recreational use of hose or faucet water for recreational or entertainment purposes, including car washing or lawn fountains, is prohibited.
- Draining and filling of pools is permitted but reduction is encouraged
- Placement of new landscaping and other landscaping plants is prohibited on existing landscaping, while new developments may create landscaping and have a change of no more than 30 days

City officials are recommending residents use a cycle and soak method of watering, where water is applied in multiple short cycles spaced at least an hour apart. This method reduces runoff, allows water to penetrate the soil and encourages deeper root growth, according to the release.
