2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship makes Texas debut in Frisco

of KPMG Women's PGA Championship is the second-oldest women's golf championship and will come to Frisco in 2025.

“For us and the people of Texas, especially the people here in Frisco, (it's a chance) to have an opportunity to see the best players in the world over and over again every other year competing for a major championship,” Jason said. Mengel, championship director of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. “Events like the KPMG Women's PGA (Championship) are bucket list events for participants.”

Overview

Tickets for the championshipto be held June 16-22 at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, home of PGA of Americaopened to the public on August 20, according to a press release from Professional Players Association of America.

Prices range between $35-$50 for daily ground tickets depending on the day, and ticket packages for all four rounds start at $135.

Another ticket option is the PGA of America “Be There for Both” package, which starts at $270 for two tickets to all four rounds of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and priority access to ticket and hospitality offers for the 2027 PGA Championship , which will also be held in Frisco.

Participants who purchase any of the corporate hospitality options for the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship will also receive priority access to hospitality offers for the 2027 PGA Championship, according to the announcement.

Something to note

Kids age 15 and older can watch the championship, and some of the best players in the world, for free, Mengel said.

“We hope to inspire the future of the game,” Mengel said. “I foresee this being the ultimate father-of-daughter event – get girls and boys out … to enjoy it and then hopefully someone can pick up the game during this event and then leave to participate potentially in the KPMG Women's PGA (Championship) down the road.”

Children aged 15 and over will only be admitted free if accompanied by a ticketed adult. Only four free minor tickets will be given to each ticketed adult.

A similar program is available to military personnel, according to the release. Active duty, retirees, reservists, veterans and national guard members will have free access to the grounds with one guest per day of the championship.

It's zooming in

The KPMG Women's PGA Championship was established in 1955 and is one of five Ladies Professional Golf Association championships played every year.

“That's five championships every year where you can say golf transcends sports,” Mengel said. “That's five times a year where … it's (golfers') chance to write their names in the history books.”

KPMG Women's PGA Championship golfers have played courses in Washington, Ohio, New York and other states, but never in Texas — until now.

It will be the second major ever, and the first women's major, played at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco.

Holding the championship in Frisco means offering another avenue into the game for attendees, Mengel said.

“If you're an avid golfer, a lot of golf courses might not be as accessible as (Fields Ranch East) is,” he said.

For example, local players have the opportunity to play the exact same course as professional players during the championship, Mengel said.

The other side

For the average resident, the championship is still a chance to celebrate the growing popularity of women's sports, namely golf, Mengel said.

In 2023 there were about 7 million women golfers, a 25% increase from 2019, according to National Golf Foundation.

“You look at like, the current wave of national momentum with women's sports, of course you saw it with the Caitlin Clark phenomenon and then the Olympics,” Mengel said. “Having golf featured so prominently in the Olympics just gives us a chance to continue to build and carry forward the momentum we had with the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in '10-11 (the PGA of America has been a partner on this. “

Moving forward

Mengel said he expects a bigger crowd than that thousands of guests who participated in the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

“We were happy with the support we got from the community for that championship and it gave us a good first step to continue building relationships with golf fans in this community,” he said.
